Online Eurodrive reservations require three weeks preparation. But call one of our travel consultants at (888) 532-1221 between 9:00AM and 5:00PM Eastern. If we can't arrange a rush job, our association with a world renowned car rental company will allow us to arrange a conventional car rental for you.

Q: Who is eligible?

Persons who can claim residence outside the European Union, who are 18 years of age or older, and have had a valid drivers license for at least one year qualify for a tax-free, short-term (21-day minimum charge) auto lease. No maximum age limit applies. Tourists qualify for up to 175 days. Typically, students and educators qualify for up to 360 days, as do employees undertaking a limited engagement (i.e., less than 1 year) in Europe.

Q: Do I need an international driver's license?
A:

top

First let us reiterate that the minimum age limit for this lease program is only 18 years, and there is no maximum age limit. The only other requirement in this regard is that you've held your valid driving license for at least a year.

Many countries require of you, the foreign driver, no license apart from your domestic drivers license. However, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, and Spain do, by law at least, require non-Europeans to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their domestic license. Bulgaria and the Czech Republic require all foreign drivers to carry an IDP. Is it really necessary that you obtain an IDP if you plan to drive in these countries? It all depends on the particular police officer that might happen to pull you over. It's up to you whether you cover yourself in this regard. For more information, check with your local auto club (AAA, CAA…).

Q: Who can drive the car?
A:

top
The driver must be at least 18 years old and hold a current driver's license valid for all the countries in which he/she intends to drive. The spouse and direct descendants are allowed to drive the vehicle if they come within the scope of the same temporary transit authorization as the person in whose name the registration document is issued.

Q: Who can pick up the vehicle?
A:

top
Apart from the person in whose name the registration document is issued, only the spouse, the direct ascendants and descendants covered by the same temporary transit authorization are allowed to pick up the vehicle. They must be able to provide with an authorization signed by the main beneficiary.

Q: What do they mean by fully comprehensive insurance?
A:

top
During the time the Renault Eurodrive contract is valid, you have the benefit of a fully comprehensive (liability, collision, fire, theft of vehicle, act-of-God), zero-deductible insurance. Likewise the assistance program—supported by over 8,000 Renault service agents in France and some 17,000 throughout Europe—is remarkably comprehensive and very well structured. Again, all these coverage are included in the one set price.

Q: Which countries are covered?
A:

top
The countries in which this insurance is effective consist of the following:
ANDORRA, AUSTRIA, BELGIUM, BOSNIA, BULGARIA, CROATIA, CZECH REPUBLIC, CYPRUS, DENMARK, ESTONIA, FINLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY, GIBRALTAR, GREECE, HUNGARY, ICELAND, IRELAND, ITALY, LATVIA, LIECHTENSTEIN, LUXEMBURG, MACEDONIA, MALTA, MONACO, MOROCCO, NORWAY, NETHERLANDS, POLAND, PORTUGAL, ROMANIA, SERBIA, SLOVAKIA, SLOVENIA, SPAIN,  SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND, SAN MARINO, TUNISIA, TURKEY, UNITED KINGDOM, VATICAN CITY.
This list is accurate as of January 11, 2008 but is subject to change.

Q: Are my personal belongings insured?
A:
top
No, but you can purchase an additional insurance coverage for personal effects and accessories transported in the vehicle.

Q: Can I add accessories such as child seat or roof rack?
A:

top

You can choose to purchase outright the following accessories: child seat(s) (required for children under 10 years of age) and roof rack. Such items will cost extra and you will own them outright. Most customers who order these things simply leave them behind upon returning the vehicle.
Please use the general comments field on our online order form to order these accessories.
By the way, each vehicle comes equipped with a spare tire, jack, and a flash lamp (to use in lieu of warning triangles).

Q: Fuel or Diesel?
A:

top
When considering a diesel, recall that in continental Europe and Scandinavia it generally costs about 40 percent less to fuel a diesel than it does to fuel its gasoline-powered counterpart. This is because diesel engines are more fuel-efficient and because diesel fuel costs considerably less than gasoline throughout most of Europe. Figure it this way: after you've filled up a gasoline-powered vehicle 6 times you would have saved about US $100 by going with a diesel instead. (Yes, diesel fuel is available at every station.)

Q: Can the GPS be programmed in English?
A:
top
Yes.

Q: When should I make my reservation?
A:

top
We would suggest you place your order at least thirty days before the planned pick-up date. However, it may possible to arrange more urgent pick ups ($20 rush charge will apply).

Q: Payment procedure
A:

top
$300 deposit is required in order to place your reservation. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to pick up date. If your pick up date is in less than 30 days, full amount of your lease is required.

Q: Changes/refund
A:

top

If you cancel more than thirty days before your pick-up date, Renault USA will refund your US $300 deposit. If you cancel within thirty days of your pick-up date, Renault USA will refund your entire payment minus the US $300 deposit.

You can make changes to your return location later, even while you're on the road in Europe, without suffering a change fee. If a different return charge applies to the new location, you will be charged/credited the difference.

The Renault Eurodrive contract can be extended provided one-week's notice and payment by the final day of the original contract Simply call Renault DVSE in France. The price for extending the contract will be calculated on the basis of DVSE's general contract extension price list.
